Federal Freeze Information
The NJ Department of Human Services, Division of Family Development is aware of recent media reports regarding a potential federal spending freeze on Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) payments.
At this time, we have not received any notification from the federal government indicating that there will be changes to the availability or use of federal CCAP funds in New Jersey.
We continue to monitor federal guidance closely and will post any updates.
CCAP Registration Form Now Available
The Department of Human Services has started the process of reopening the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) for a limited number of slots, with the goal of allowing applications for new children in January.
At this time, the opportunity to apply will be first issued to families with very low incomes, families needing care for children with special needs, and families experiencing homelessness in accordance with federal and state law. As capacity allows, additional families may also be served.
Completing the Registration Form is the first step in being considered for the opportunity to apply for CCAP benefits.
Once program capacity is reached, parents will remain on the registration list until additional availability becomes available.
