The Hiring and Retention Bonus Grant is open and accepting applications through Sunday, December 4, 2022 (subject to availability of funds).

UPDATE: Based on availability of funds, applications submitted by December 4 with Director or Assistant Directors titles, that meet all other grant requirements, may be eligible for the Hiring and Retention Bonus Grant.

You are eligible to apply even if you have already received a $1,000 from a previous phase of this grant. 

  
Grant Eligibility
If you are a licensed child care center provider, your program may be eligible for these grants if you are:
  • Open and operating;
  • In compliance with federal Child Care Development Block Grant (CCDBG) health and safety requirements (criminal background check and health and safety trainings);
  • In good standing with New Jersey’s Licensing, Manual of Requirements and Child Care Assistance Program (such as appropriately awarded and issued payment to eligible staff from previous hiring and retention grants).
 
Family child care providers may be eligible, if you are:
  • A registered Family Child Care Provider;
  • In compliance with federal Child Care Development Block Grant (CCDBG) health and safety requirements (criminal background check and health and safety trainings);
  • In good standing with New Jersey’s Registration, Manual of Requirements;
  • Open and operating at time of application; 
  • Have children enrolled.
 
Qualified Staff
UPDATE: Based on availability of funds, applications submitted by December 4 with Director or Assistant Directors titles, that meet all other grant requirements, may be eligible for the Hiring and Retention Bonus Grant.
  • Responsible for directly working with children (care, supervision or instruction);
  • Registered in the Workforce Registry through NJCCIS (New Jersey Child Care Information System);
  • Have completed required CCDBG Trainings (including Health, Safety, and Child Growth and Development/Mandated Reporting: Basic Requirements for Licensing and First Aid and Pediatric CPR Training; and
  • Have completed a comprehensive criminal background check.


IMPORTANT NOTICE
It is imperative that staff complete required trainings prior to submission of this application. For assistance uploading professional development documentation and/or certifications into the NJ Workforce Registry, you can view a how-to video here.
 
Also, additional funds are included in the grant to offset required payroll taxes to allow for staff to receive a total of $1,000.

One-on-One Techincal Assistance Sessions are Available!

These technical assistance sessions will help child care directors and family child care providers with the Hiring and Retention Bonus and NJ ARP Stabilization grants. To register for a one-on-one session, go to NJCCIS and search for the Event ID (found on the flyer). After registering for the course, you will receive an email with information on how to schedule your session with the consultant.
